Ski Resort of Grandvalira Benefits From €13 Million Investment

From modified slopes, to extra snow making facilities, enhanced chair lifts and improvements to the resort’s terrain parks, Grandvalira has received a massive “customer-centric” investment ready in time for the upcoming 2019/20 ski season.

Grandvalira is one of our most popular European resorts due to its beautiful wide runs, extensive ski circuit, fast lift systems and an added bonus of tax-free shopping! We’ve listed the most notable improvements which we feel will enhance the whole “school ski” experience and will greatly benefit school groups:

Discover new skiing terrain on Grandvalira’s new slopes

grandvalira snowparkGrandvalira has opened up a new entrance to the resort, joining 6 other sectors and adding to the vast skiing area, as well as providing easy access to the slopes via the Pla de les Peres chair lift. This means the resort now boasts 7 new or modified slopes in the Grau Roig, Peretol and Soldeu sectors, allowing you to explore Grandvalira to your heart's content!

Show off your tricks at Grandvalira’s snowparks

Grandvalira’s three snowparks have had new modules, tunes and drawers installed, including jumps adapted to beginner freestylers. The majority of the snowparks are open from 9AM to 9PM, allowing for 12 hours of uninterrupted gnarly freestyling!

Reduced queue times

As a result of Grandvalira now offering 76 ski lifts, it has become one of the most modern ski resorts in terms of transport facilities. This new, state-of-the-art technology allows a larger number of skiers to be transported per hour, resulting in reduced queuing times and ensures all visitors have a more enjoyable experience.

Enhanced snow making facilities

Grandvalira now has 70 snow cannons installed at strategic points across the resort. This ensures 66% of the skiing area is always covered by snow, so you can pretty much guarantee your skiing will never be interrupted by the snow conditions!

Grandvalira gets even more high tech

The resort has invested in ‘MyGrandski’ – a Grandvalira Resorts Identification Registry which provides a centralised access to all of the resorts online services including its app with a new interactive 2D map and a live information service on the state of the Ordino Arcalis slopes – a great feature for all of our party leaders heading out to Grandvalira this season.

Zoom down the mountains on the new ‘Snake Gliss’

Hop onboard the luge ‘Snake Gliss’ – a long train of sledges attached together with a driver at the front. The Snake Gliss starts at Pla d’Espiolets and zooms down to Soldeu Village. This winter activity takes place every afternoon once the slopes have closed. Get in touch if you’d like to know more about adding this activity to your itinerary.

Tasty additions to Grandvalira

A Burger Brothers restaurant has opened on the top floor of Cubil Restaurant in the Grau Roig area. Students can also grab some sweet treats from Chocolates Valor at the boarding entrance to Funicamp.
