School Skiing in the USA

USA resorts are far quieter than those in Europe, meaning no lift-queues and more time actually skiing. Tuition is exceptional with friendly instructors delivering fun and engaging lessons designed to get the best out of every skier, whatever their ability.

Even the snow is different, from the ‘corduroy’ glade skiing in the East to the ‘champagne powder’ of the Rockies. Trailgrooming in America is practically an art-form, and our resorts all benefit from plentiful snowfall and state-of-the-art snowmaking machines to ensure great conditions throughout the season.

Our USA tours are tailor-made to your specifications, and our all-inclusive prices offer excellent value for money. Contact us today, and let us help plan your school’s trip of a lifetime.

East Coast USA

USA - outline map

The East Coast is lined with some of the best ski resorts in North America, offering the ultimate ski experience. New Hampshire offers our groups the perfect combination of great skiing, tax free shopping, first class customer service, choice and excellent value.

Our featured East Coast New Hampshire resorts are situated within the White Mountain National Forest and accommodation is a short transfer to the mountain for skiing each day.

Our New Hampshire Ski Safari allows groups ski two resorts during their week –where the logistics are handled beautifully by our resort partners so that your pupils receive consistency in their skiing development and your transition between mountains is seamless!

New England skiing is typified by tree-lined glade skiing and well-groomed ‘corduroy’ pistes, and the resorts are much quieter and friendlier than many European resorts. Whilst its location close to both Boston and New York mean a greater choice of flights, shorter transfers and of course a shorter flying time from the UK than the western resorts.

Ski Mount Snow

Located in the glorious Green Mountains National Forest, just four hours’ drive from New York and three hours from Boston, this traditional Vermont village is perfectly placed for combining with a city stopover.

Comfortable accommodation, perfect for school groups, is situated close to the mountain for ease of access. Our accommodation offers a quick shuttle to the lifts, giving access to a wide variety of skiing for all abilities.

From the base lodge the skiing spreads out over 4 different but well-connected mountain areas with an excellent variety of terrain to suit all levels of skiers and boarders. The ski area is superb and there’s lots to entertain your group off the slopes, from the bowling alley, to the tubing hill and to the community theatre and cinema.

Skiing

Mount Snow’s dedicated learning area is just what nervous novices need on the first day. Once they have built confidence, they can ski from the summit to the base lodge on an easy green, giving your students a huge sense of achievement.

Intermediates can zigzag down the wide trails while your best skiers are burning down more challenging runs. For advanced skiers, the black terrain is in a separate area. There is also an expansive terrain park system with a dozen separate parks.

Skiing

With skiing across eight peaks, there’s plenty to get excited about at Sunday River. Novices start out in the dedicated ‘learn to ski’ area, making fast progression on the forgiving slopes.

Ideal for mixed ability groups, every peak has an easy or more challenging route down and the miles of gentle trails give improvers just enough challenge while they build confidence and new skills. For the adventurous, choose from four terrain parks and two halfpipes, or challenge yourself on the steep narrow black runs winding through the trees.

Ski Sugarloaf

Maine’s best-kept secret, known to locals as ‘The Loaf’ due to its striking resemblance to an iced bun, Sugarloaf is renowned for offering the most challenging skiing in New England. Ideal for schools, the pedestrianised village has been developed in true Nordic style, with all amenities conveniently on hand.

Sugarloaf offers almost 1,700 acres of skiing over a vertical drop of almost 2,300ft, making it the largest US ski resort east of the Rockies. A winter playground for all levels of skier or boarder, the skiing gets progressively harder as you go higher, although there is an easy run for beginners from top to bottom.

Once the ski boots are off, the Sugarloaf Sports and Fitness club, features an indoor pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room and is a great place to relax and unwind after a full day on the slopes, plus it’s free to our groups. Or you can or head to the anti-gravity centre for a night filled with fun!

Skiing

Beginners have plenty of scope to discover a passion for ski at this fantastic resort, including the option of an easy summit to base run. Intermediates can join their instructors on extensive terrain and confident skiers could head higher for some of the most challenging runs in New England.

Advanced skiers will no doubt be challenged by the tough terrain of the backside snowfields and black diamond glades. Sugarloaf is a massive mountain, especially by New England’s standards. The clever lift design ensures that there is a challenge for everyone.

OTHER USA SCHOOL SKI TRIPS

Ski Heavenly

Just a gondola ride away from the heart of South Lake Tahoe village and overlooking the blue waters of Lake Tahoe, Heavenly offers a huge variety of skiing possibilities over 4,800 acres of terrain extending across the two states of Nevada and California.

San Francisco makes for a great city stopover and is only four hours away. With spectacular scenery, an average of 31ft of snow fall each season, combined with the famous Californian sunshine and a vast ski circuit, Heavenly really is perfect for school groups.

Skiing

There’s so much to discover in the fifth largest ski resort in North America. Beginners can start on the well-groomed nursery slopes then enjoy the excellent green runs on the Californian side, whilst intermediates will be in their element with a superb selection of blues on both sides of the state line.

For the advanced skier Heavenly has some of the most testing mogul runs, lots of challenging blacks. With an area specifically designed for snowboarders on the Nevada side, Heavenly appeals to the snowboarder as much as the skier.
