School Skiing in Canada

Skiing in Canada offers a real sense of wilderness, wherever you are – partly due to the sheer scale of the country and partly due to the spectacular locations and views.

Canada certainly offers a wide range of scenery, from arctic tundra, vast pine forests and glacial mountains to great waterways, colossal lakes and endless prairies. It also boasts true wild-life – you might not spot humpback whales or grizzly bears on your trip, but there’s a reasonable chance you might see moose or hear wolves!

Ski here and you’ll surely understand why so many Canadians embrace nature and treat the outdoors as such a special place.

Tremblant

Consistently voted Best Ski Resort in Eastern North America year after year, this gem of a resort combines fabulous skiing with French-Canadian charm. A purpose-built, traffic-free, slopeside village, Tremblant’s colourful buildings and friendly locals will welcome your students. A much-loved resort with stacks of après-ski facilities, see your students race back down the mountain at the end of each day to enjoy the activities.

The picturesque pedestrianised village is easy to get around on skis, on foot and via the cabriolet lift, and the skiing and snowboarding are world-class.

Alongside the shops and boutiques in the village, you will find the cinema showing up-to-date movies, the Aquaclub La Source housing a swimming pool and indoor and outdoor hot tubs and if you still have some energy there is the seasonal outdoor ice rink. A short bus ride away you also have the option of bowling, indoor ice skating and possibly even watching an ice hockey match.

Skiing

Tremblant’s huge trail network gives experienced skiers as much challenge as they can handle, while beginners receive plenty of encouragement on the nursery slopes. The modern lift system means you’ll spend more time on your skis.

This is the biggest ski area in Eastern Canada so there’s plenty to do.

Mont Saint Anne

Forty-five minutes from Quebec City, everything runs like clockwork at Mont Sainte Anne. Speedy lifts and immaculate trails promise smooth ski days. Nineteen trails stay open until 10pm, and are floodlit for four days a week until the end of March, offering the opportunity to night ski.

The skiing terrain offers breathtaking scenery all around the mountain, with the St Lawrence River to the south and the Laurentians to the north. Off the slopes, there are plenty of après-ski activities to choose from in Quebec including ice hockey matches, sugar-shacking, bowling, plus organised events such as quizzes, and discos.

Skiing

Magic carpets carry new skiers up the nursery slopes, and the easy lifts at altitude mean beginners can ski more of the mountain, giving them a big confidence boost. Our groups love the great sense of achievement this resort gives, with long greens and challenging intermediate runs threading across the whole ski area. The lift system is well-planned and the trail-grooming is first class.

Le Massif

Le Massif is unique because you start skiing at the top of the mountain with the spectacular setting over the St Lawrence River. Quebec’s most popular mountain and the perfect partner to Mont Sainte Anne, Le Massif’s more challenging runs motivate your pupils to keep progressing right up to the last day.

On arriving at Le Massif you will find that the ‘base lodge’ is actually at the summit, so even beginners get to start at the top of the mountain! Le Massif offers plenty of après-ski activities to choose from in Quebec including ice hockey matches, sugar-shacking, bowling, plus organised events such as quizzes, and discos.

Skiing

Starting at the top for a change, beginners have the rare opportunity to discover the whole mountain, skiing all the way to the bottom on well-linked greens, before taking the lift back up for a well-deserved hot chocolate break.

Intermediates will be delighted at the range and variety of the skiing here, with wide-open blues and runs through the trees. Meanwhile, the experienced skiers among you have wide trails to cruise along and tree-lined runs to discover.

For any snowboarder, as well as the extensive terrain, there are 2 fabulous snowboard parks: for beginners there is the mini-park and for the more experienced, The Zone.

Marmot Basin, located in the breathtaking landscape of Jasper National Park, covers an incredible 1,675 acres of superb skiing and is only 30 minutes from the friendly town of Jasper, where locals go the extra mile to welcome their guests.

In the last decade Jasper has benefitted from new developments and infrastructure. In 2009 the longest high-speed quad chairlift in the Canadian Rockies opened, allowing visitors to get straight to the top of the mountain more quickly than ever before, and two more brand new chairlifts were added in 2011, making the whole mountain hugely accessible.

Reassuringly safe, you’ll experience more than just skiing here with a choice of educational add-ons which explore local wildlife and mountain safety. This resort benefits from uncrowded trails and virtually no lift queues, while the après options are astounding – enjoy ice-skating, curling or a trip to the Maligne Ice Canyon.
